Happy Father's Day!

This is Peter's second Father's Day but since the first one was kind of a blur...this was a biggie. This is a day to celebrate him. Since Jake & Miles are still pretty little it was pretty low key. There was mexican food involved and that's what counts. I imagine that if Peter could have a dream day it would include mexican food, sports watching, music...I see some fun in the future. Even though the boys are little, I know that they can already tell that they have the coolest dad around. I am so looking forward to watching them understand this on a deeper level as they grow. I won't have to tell them that their daddy is amazing because they will witness it every day. They will have a wonderful role model of a father, husband and all around cool guy. Happy Father's Day, Peter! We love you!

On Saturday night we went out to eat for Father's Day. Lucy was soooo good and after everything was said and done we were at the restaurant for THREE HOURS! I was so impressed by how well Lucy managed being there for so long. She was super fun and dinner was great. Here are some photos...

This weekend I went for a quick trip into Houston and left the boys in the capable hands of Dada & Poppy. It was really nice to have some time to hang out with my parents & Miss Lucy. Of course, I miss all of my boys terribly and will be back in Austin first thing tomorrow morning to celebrate Father's Day together. It was so sweet of Peter to offer me a little break and I think they enjoyed their boys' weekend! So...Little Lucy is making a guest appearance on the blog today and I will have another post with some more photos tomorrow. She is such a little delight and this is definitely the most attention I have ever been able to lavish on her!! Pure sweetness. On Friday, much to her delight, her entourage (Aunt Alla - aka Pete, her mama, Grandma and Grandpa) showed up at daycare to pick her up early. That's when the party started...

Here are Jake & Miles with a couple of friends that came over on Monday. All were enjoying some booty. I am so sure that the playdates are more for the mamas at this point than for the kiddos...but they are wonderful.

I thought I should post something about the voracious appetites of Jake and Miles. That way I can remember, in case they decide to turn on me one day. Right now they are bottomless pits. Garbage disposals. I guess this is a little preview of what it will be like to live with two teenage boys. They are such big eaters and, lucky for me, they like the good stuff. Favorites include...bananas, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, papaya, watermelon, nectarines, peaches, mangoes, cherries, applesauce, avocados, zucchini, squash, sweet potatoes, peas, broccoli (sometimes), carrots, scrambled eggs, tofu, turkey, turkey meatloaf, veggie burger, veggie 'meat'balls, pasta, smoothies, yogurt, cheese, milk (soy, please!), pancakes, graham crackers, goldfish, cheerios...they even sucked down some grilled orange roughy the other night. It's hard to keep up, but I can't complain. I also know that tomorrow they could decide that they only want bananas and graham crackers, so I'm counting my blessings for now. Here is a picture of dinner they other night and a couple of them chowing down! (And, yes, they do pass food back and forth now.)

Grandma & Grandpa Bush graciously passed on some of their furniture to us that they no longer had a spot for and it was clear that some pieces were harder to part with than others. In other words, my dad was a little sad to say goodbye to this recliner. I think this post will make him feel a little better about it. Jake has recently fallen in love with this chair. When he is feeling a little tired, he makes his way over to the chair and (with a little help) gets super comfy in it. All you have to do is a little light rocking and he makes the yummiest little contented "hmmm" noise as he rocks back and forth. So, grandpa, this chair is in good hands. 

Catching up from the weekend

Zilker Zephyr

We had such a fun Friday! Grandma came in town for a couple of nights (which has been wonderful, because the boys have had a little case of the crazies, thanks to a lingering virus, and Peter was out of town) and we went out and about today. We (mama, Grandma & Mirinda) took Jake and Miles to Zilker Park to ride the zephyr. I like those odds...three adults to two babies...we had them out-numbered! Jake immediately went into chill mode and did not budge until the ride was over, and Miles spent the first 5 minutes screaming and alternately clawing and clinging for dear life to me. He quickly warmed up to it and they both really enjoyed it. I see many train rides in our future. Here is a picture of me with the boys.

Belated birthday gift

A bunch of people (including us) pitched in to get this playhouse for Miles and Jake for their birthday. It arrived late yesterday and Mirinda assembled it this afternoon (what would we do without her!). Jake and Miles have already broken it in and they LOVE it. I think it will be so wonderful to have something that they enjoy playing with here at home - outdoors. I know they will get more out of it when they are a little older - but I can already tell it is going to be a huge hit! Here are some pics of them playing with it today.
